Tin Can Bay Inlet and The Great Sandy Straits is the preferred boating area for Gympie and District residents, due to it's close proximity, huge untouched area, quiet waterways, and of course plentiful fishing and crabbing.
Why not discover Fraser Island by water. If you do the morning practical, there is a high likelihood you will come face to face with the famous Tin Can dolphins.
You will also navigate amongst port & starboard lateral marks, cardinal marks, lead markers and special marks during your practical. This interaction with navigation marks is vital in becoming comfortable and confident on the water.
The Tin Can Bay boat ramp is easy to use, with 4 wide lanes, and a functional pontoon in the middle to tie up to while parking your trailer (great for beginners). Parking is plentiful and close, there are no line-ups, and no crowds.
Your trainer Peter has 40 years of local experience as a Master Class 4 skipper on vehicle ferries, charter boats, trawlers, line fishing and spanner crabbing vessels. He will share these experiences with you, and patiently walk you through the course.
